In statistics, a measure of the spread of a
population from the mean. Thus if there are n
observations with a mean of m, the mean
deviation is the sum of the moduli of the
differences of the observation values from m,
divided by n. Thus, if there are n
observations with a mean of m, the mean
deviation is the sum of the absolute values
of the differences of the observation values
from m, divided by n.
